In order to keep it simple in this article, “plastic sheds” will be the term used to describe the vinyl or resin sheds. It seems that the plastic shed industry wanted to get away from the term “plastic” because of the negative connotations (we often think of “plastic” products as being of inferior quality). And since the term “vinyl” more accurately describes plastic that can be bent (think of vinyl flooring and vinyl siding), the plastic shed industry chose “resin” as the preferred term. The reality is that resin is the term used to describe the basic substance that is used in the creation of plastic. So plastic is the most widely understood term that will be used for plastic sheds in this article. .

Keter warns that, although the rough wood-like panels are paintable, the plastic trim is not. For the trim, use a pre-primed paint made for plastic, or prime the trim first. Then, use your acrylic paint everywhere.
Using wood as the structural component of a storage building means that you can easily customize the inside. You can insulate the walls if at some point you decide that you would like to control the climate in the shed. You can add shelving and organizing boards (imagine trying to pound a nail in the wall of a plastic shed). You can run wires through the walls for electricity. Basically anything that you can do on the inside of your house can be done to the inside of a wood-framed storage shed.
Wood Sheds – The craftsmanship on our wood sheds is second to none. They feature lofts, gables, windows, and paint or stain in your choice of colors. While our wood sheds are great for storage, they’re also ideal for setting up your very own she-shed (or he-shed).
If you have an existing shed but want to move it to another location, this could have a range of costs. If your shed does not have a floor, it can be easily moved for around $50 in most cases. Floors can be made of poured concrete, plywood 2, or plastic. If your shed has a concrete pad for a floor, you will need a new floor poured, which has costs of up to $300. Some wood floors can be moved with the rest of the shed. If you purchase a floor kit, you usually need to build the floor separately, while custom sheds can have them built-in 3.
When discussing the best shed material, you’re looking at what makes up the exterior of the shed itself, as this will have to contend with the elements. The vast majority of quality sheds are either built out of vinyl or pressure-treated wood siding. We’re comparing the important details of both options: Learn more about the prices of our Amish sheds.Risk of Rot — When it comes to stopping mold and rot, vinyl is the best shed material and there’s no question about it. After all, your home is probably built from vinyl siding, and that’s no coincidence. In general, prospective customers admire the look of vinyl sheds more and consider them to have a more decidedly upscale look. Of course, when it comes to color and style, personal taste is everything. See some of our favorite shed color combinations right here. Our Verdict — Like we mentioned above, both shed types can be great, which is why we sell both! However, for most potential customers, we say that vinyl is the best shed material as it boasts the convenience factor and a longer lifespan — even if the upfront price is a little higher.

I am quite partial to Keter’s Grande-Store but I’m struggling finding where to purchase in the USA at present as this is a new model. The plastic on Keter’s Store-It-Out Ultra is a tad wavery for my liking as mentioned in the review however this is the most competitive by far on the large scale low profile sheds, depends on one’s views.
Hardware store sheds are often built of neither wood nor vinyl — instead, they are built of aluminum or plastic. In addition to the questionable material choice, these sheds are built quickly, several hundred-at-a-time in enormous factories. While the prices will be very cheap, we’ve seen them fall apart and need to be replaced in just 2 or 3 summers, which undermines any of those potential savings.
